Starting September 1, 2014, the Millionair Club Charity is realigning its employment program’s hiring and payment model to provide higher wages and additional benefits to the workers who use our services. Our temporary workers have said that the day-labor-cash-at-the-end-of-the-day payment model helps in the short term, but it doesn’t assist them in the long run with building a credit history, resume building, securing a full-time job or providing them with a source of consistent income.
Therefore, beginning September 1, 2014, all workers will become employees of the Millionair Club Charity. What this means to you is that if you would like to hire our workers for your home or business, you will sign a contract through the Millionair Club. You will pay a pre-established hourly wage, that is based on Seattle’s legal minimum wage requirements and the Labor & Industry rates for insurance. Those hourly wages range from $17 to $23.15 an hour, depending on the work task. The MCC employment specialists can tell you the exact hourly wage after you submit your work request. Then, after the work is complete, you will not pay the worker cash at the end of the day. Instead, the Millionair Club Charity will pay the workers, and send you an invoice, on a weekly basis. The MCC takes care of the hassle of paperwork, employment taxes, Social Security and L&I insurance costs. This new structure provides greater protection for our employers, our workers and us as a nonprofit organization.
Contracts and Work Order Requests for Employers are available on the MCC’s website HERE. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to phone the MCC’s employment specialists at 206-728-5627. Thank you to all our employers, who are providing jobs and opportunity to men and women who are homeless or face other barriers to employment.
