We can’t thank you enough. Your support means more people like Jocelyn Harris, our Employee of the Year, who struggled to find stability and independence so that she could support her two young daughters – until she came to Millionair Club Charity.
Jocelyn got placed within just a few days of coming to MCC, working at the stadiums and gaining hospitality experience. Within about a month, Jocelyn was hired on full-time with Eventions, the catering and event production department at Microsoft’s Redmond-based HQ. She was even promoted to concierge and works across the campus to plan large and small events for a variety of clients. Jocelyn is also stably housed at MCC’s Kasota Apartments, and is working to find permanent housing.
“MCC immediately had opportunities for me, there was help support and guidance when I was facing uncertainty,” Jocelyn said. “I wasn’t sure where I wanted to be or what I wanted to do, and now I love what I do every day.”
Jocelyn feels confident and accepted at work each day, and even gets to help support other MCC workers who get placed there.
Our Employer of the Year, First & Goal Hospitality, provided the job that was a jumping off point for Jocelyn. They provided over 70,000 hours of work to our workers over the last fiscal year, with over 10,000 job assignments where our workers are gaining critical hard and soft skills that put them on their path to success. Thank you to the First & Goal Hospitality team for attending and for being such valuable partners!
Last but not least, our Community Partner of the Year award went to Northwest Harvest, an organization that has been helping meals programs (like MCC’s) for 50 years. Did you know that over 90% of the food MCC serves is donated, and it comes from organizations like Northwest Harvest? We would not be able to serve almost 100,000 meals each year without their support.
In addition, Northwest Harvest went above and beyond in assisting MCC while we undertook a freezer remodel project. High-capacity, efficient freezers are vital to keeping the donated food we use for meals fresh and tasty for our workers, and Northwest Harvest made sure that we not only had space at their warehouse to store our food while the remodel was taking place, they also sent a refrigerated truck to pick up and return the food. We’re so grateful for such a wonderful partner that goes the extra mile in supporting one of our most vital support services at MCC!
The awardees were certainly the stars of the evening, but we can’t forget the numerous volunteers, sponsors and in-kind supporters that helped make the event possible. Thank you again to Servco Foundation, our premier sponsor, as well as our sponsors at the Schuster Foundation, Harborstone Credit Union and Pacific Continental Bank. Thank you to Ezell’s Famous Chicken, Westward, Sweet Iron Waffles and Tavolata for the incredible food, Alexandria Nicole Cellars for delicious wine pairings, and Seattle Sorbets for the refreshing and tasty desserts.
